During Your Visit

So that everyone has a great time visiting we’ve got some reassurances, house rules and a round up of our food and beverage offer below.

The safety and security of our visitors, staff, and artists is our priority, and our Visitor Experience team is there to help you and enhance your experience. Please assist our staff in following their instructions, they are always acting for the greater good of everyone.

We do not have a cloakroom at the Theatre and we please ask that you keep your personal belongings with you at all times. We encourage that you also don’t bring large bags and luggage with you to an event.

Theatre etiquette is a code of conduct that if followed by everyone can ensure that a great time is had by all. It works like this:

Do your best to be on time for the start of the event.

Do not talk out loud when an event is underway.

Contrary to popular believe there is never ‘dancing in the aisles’. Dancing may be permitted from time to time, like at the end of certain shows where there’s a ‘mega mix’ of the music that was performed and it is considered that it will not affect the enjoyment of the performance for others then you can dance, but you must remain at your seat.

For the most part filming and photography on phones or other devices and camaras are not allowed.

Unless you are attending an interactive show where the fourth wall is being encouraged to fall then do not attempt to speak to or engage with the performers on the stage.

Always listen to and respect our staff, after all, they are there primarily to help you have a great time.

Food & Drink

Enjoy a wide selection of drinks and light bites before, during and after the show. Our café, theatre bar, sweet and ice cream bar and balcony bar offer something for everyone.

Our bars

Our bars open 90 minutes before a show so come along and enjoy a pre-theatre tipple from our extensive range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

This includes some local Essex heroes like fine distilled spirits from Essex Spirits Co and wine from Essex’s oldest wine makers, New Hall Wine Estate, and from Chelmsford’s very own Radio City Beer Works, try a craft beer in a can.

And of course you can beat those interval queues by pre-ordering before the show.
